Waterfowl hunters reminded of a season split in the North zone

MADISON – Waterfowl hunters in the North zone are reminded of a season split from Nov. 5-9. The season will reopen on Nov. 10 and continue through Nov. 25.

A split is a short closure that helps to balance the desires of hunters who wish to hunt earlier with those who prefer later season dates, according to Kent Van Horn, Department of Natural Resources waterfowl ecologist.

Hunters in the north proposed this split which would allow hunting over the Thanksgiving holiday; the idea was supported by the Conservation Congress and the majority of public input. As a reminder, goose hunting in the north will also be closed at this time.

City Seeking Downtown Christmas Tree Donors

The City is looking for people willing to donate 30 to 35-foot tall Christmas trees to be displayed downtown in future years. The City will cut and haul the trees. If you are interested in donating a tree, please call 715-346-1537.
